Because this is just a batchfile on which you have to doubleclick, it's very easy to use. This means that you need to do it every 30 days to keep using CrazyBump. Same goes for Substance Designer (which goes on sale on Steam sometimes.) Knald is really good, but it's the same price for personal use as Crazybump. Ndo works very well, but you have to put in the time to learn it.
I'm using a PBR workflow though and was curious if there was an alternative that would ditch the spec for a metalness/gloss maps? Using CrazyBump, I could plug in a texture, and get a Diffuse, Spec, AO, and Normal map output.
